I've now been in the furniture trade for nearly 40 years. I left school in 1976 and went to work for the famous Llanelli furniture store Pugh Brothers as an apprentice French polisher. There I learned all the necessary skills and became a fully qualified French polisher and stayed on with the company till 1986. (Pugh Brothers sadly ceased trading in 2004 after 110 years)

Pugh Brothers once employed over 100 people in Llanelli and was one of the biggest furniture stores in Wales up until the early 1980s it catered for all aspects of furniture and furnishings employing there own tradesmen like French polishers, cabinet makers, carpet fitters and sewing machinists. It was a big blow to the town when they closed.
